Re: Opencamlib, 3d surface & ubuntu, guide

If you're on ubuntu and the purpose of the exercise is not to learn how to build the thing by hand, you could always use this https://launchpad.net/~iacobs/+archive/ubuntu/cnc/ (or download the sources and build the package locally)

Re: MillFace and Pocket_Shape may ignore cut mode for most patterns

Otherwise, it seems that "cut mode is broken" is a known fact, but there is no open bug for it. Should I open one? I, for one, wasn't aware that it was broken :) As for a bug, let's see what Sliptonic thinks (I know it's customary to discuss the issue with folks that might be able to do s...

Re: MillFace and Pocket_Shape may ignore cut mode for most patterns

Chipping isn't the issue. I got some 4/4 raw lumber, and no planer. Fine, so the CNC is the planer. But in ZigZag, the surface got 0.5 mm indentations between the climb-conventional passes. So, yes, I'll be sanding the surface, but I'd like to start from a less horrible situation. offset should hel...

Re: MillFace and Pocket_Shape may ignore cut mode for most patterns

c looks a lot like adaptive clearing in reverse I think cut mode is a bit broken, indeed; the best (only?) way to ensure a consistent cut direction at the moment would be offset (with "keep tool down" for efficiency), but even then the cut direction seems inverted (select "climb"...

Re: How to mill out a hole in a hole?

A freecad file or at least a screenshot would help... if I am to mind read a little, I assume you want something like this: Screenshot from 2020-12-15 13-38-37.png ... which is pretty easy: use a pocket on the inside of the box (select the bottom face, use outline) if you have any round holes (say, ...

Re: Help needed with Slot operation

looks like the slot operation doesn't take the cutter width into consideration and will only draw a single line; this is a 20mm wide slot and the tool is the default 5mm endmill: slot.png I'm guessing this operation has a very narrow use case (slot width equal to the tool diameter) and in other case...

Re: Face Milling Bug? ... Facing Rabbets

Looks like the "face region" boundary shape has some issues (it only does the perimeter on the last layer); I think you'd be better served by a pocket in this case, anyway, it knows how to extend the milling past the edges correctly.

Re: SolidWorks Model Mania Challenge

thanks, now I'm in a rabbit hole... I found the complete collection o date at https://blogs.solidworks.com/tech/2020/03/20-years-of-model-mania.html and started going at it backwards (I got 2017 done today); some of them are definitely fillet torture models, wondering if they're okay to submit for t...
