Re: Part design: datum line on the intersection of 2 datum planes
@TheMarkster, my bad. Because of the viewing angle it looked almost proper. But I checked and if the edges cross the second DatumPlane the calculated proximity point is actually where it is supposed to be.

Re: Pocket To A Curved or Compound Edge
Since offseting from a curved surface is not yet supported hare I created a second body , used subshapebinders of the original sketches, alpplied the desired offset on one of them and used the resulting solid to perform a boolean cut to make the desired pocket. I had to use first body as BaseFeature...

Re: How to learn freecad software components? Desperate
what are the advantages of FreeCAD You can put the different cut pieces in 3D to for better visualization and check if they fit/make them fit. Joeyjdude You better have something that you want but not necessarily need to design. No pressure, less frustration, more desire to learn along the way :) T...

Re: Part design: datum line on the intersection of 2 datum planes
A little complex but here is a working example: Create Sketch at one of the datum planes. Draw two random lines roughly in the direction of intersection some distance between them. Any two lines should work but this should give less rounding errors. Create DatumPoint, first reference one of the sket...

Re: How to best print this object?
Cut the corner and print on the resulting flat.
. .
Here I used a SubShapeBinder from some generated edges to perform a pocket. If any one has a better suggestion how to perform such cut I am all ears

Re: Total black screen
On that note can we have an LP dev build from time to time? On my work PC that uses Win7 and some crapy graphics card the release builds work almost Ok but the Conda dev ones give black screen if they even start.

Re: Issues with simple loft
You are generating selfintersection in the Loft. When the loft sketches contain 2 contours the order of their creation and dimensions is important. Here if in starting sketch the first created circle is the outer one then in the end sketch it should be the same outer one. In the attached file I just...

Re: Unexpected result from revolution in simple object - help me
The resulting half cylinder from the last revolution just touches the inside of the sphere which is not enough to be considered part of it. This would usually produce "result has multiple solids" error. You can make the outer edge of the rectangle an arc, make it tangent to the arc or just...

Re: Why my pads are not updated after changing the size of them in sketch ?
You have broken fillets (the red exclamation marks in the tree) so the final shape of the body is not updated. This is probably TNP so fixing the fillets should fix the body and produce a proper export.

Re: Sub shape binder has twice the offset of datum plane
If it has some complex mapping that is needed for a matching solid?
