Re: Boolean problem routing ouside edge

That one is easy: Just add a rectangular box to your sketch that is outside the boundaries of the part, and apply PartDesign pocket with 0,25" depth. It seems to actually help the CAD kernel in FreeCad if the outer area of the pocket is bigger than the part, as that way there are no tangency pr...

Re: issues in upddating a basic value

Simple workaround: If changing the sketch fails, simply add a new one at the end (don't fork!) and add some material to the inside of your bore.

Re: Mounting a thrust bearing

You're welcome. And yet again: It all depends on the kind of load and movement, design of adjacent parts, speed and frequency of movement, cleaning requirements, and many more. Using two axial bearings and a bolt will mean you have to apply just the right amount of torque when fastening the bolt in ...

Re: Mounting a thrust bearing

Well, that depends on what you are trying to achieve. A thrust bearing could work with gravity alone, without the bolt. But if you need the bolt to keep your parts together, you have to add a second bearing for the bolt, or simply use a normal ball bearing instead. Those are capable of taking load i...

Re: Bending a object (non-Tube)

So what i am looking for (and cannot seem to find in freeCAD nor the boards here) is a way to take a part and sort of bend it slightly... Something like telling freecad, that if shall take the flat base of the body and press it into a bend with r=500 and all the rest of the part with it. Is that ev...

Re: StackExchange site for FreeCAD - proposal

I have become very fond of the FreeCAD forum. But sometimes when reading a excellent question and/or a fantastic answer here on the forum, I feel quite sad. The reason is that this real good information soon is going to drown in other good information. I think having the possibility to star questio...

Re: Workflow in sketcher and some features request

Thanks for the answer! Looks like the project is moving in right direction. (added) Now stuck with a problem - tried to make a slot in the side of a cylinder. Drawed a sketch with slot's profile just beside the one side of a cylinder and it instantly tells me it can't extrude a hole! It tells me th...

Re: Units differences?

"By the way you would do better if you downloaded a snapshot version of 0.16dev. They are usually far less buggy and have many new features than the release versions, which become dated rather quickly and generally get no bug fixes." "This is especially true in this case. In 0.15.467...

Re: How to attach a FreeCAD-File to a PATH/CAM bug report?

When opening a new or exiting bug, the "upload file" section is present. Haven't been on the tracker lately, so apologies for any misinformation. The way I described it is how I've done it before (but perhaps for a different product).

Re: How to attach a FreeCAD-File to a PATH/CAM bug report?

I have filed a bug report concerning a (minor) display issue of the Path WB. To help identifying or testing I would like to attach my FreeCAD-file. How can I do this? Just add it here, put the bug number here (there's the "bug" command on top to create a direct link to mantis), and add a ...
