Re: Help on drawing a worm gear with its involute gear

I had the same question, came across this thread and like to share a good solution i found on the way. Here is a parametric globoid worm gear drive for OpenSCAD. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2776688 It's nicely written. It explains the way to get geometry in the gif. To import it in FreeCAD Op...

Re: Abnormally parse openscad codes

Can confirm a problem with FreeCAD 0.19.1 but works with Alternate Importer https://github.com/KeithSloan/OpenSCAD_Alt_Import
or a recent version of FreeCAD 0.20.

Re: Calling external snap-installed apps with temp files

Inter Application interactions in a sandbox environments are a MESS !!! I have a Mac and use Affinity Photo(rather than pay the Adobe monthly tax). Topaz brought out some very useful plugs-ins but if you bought Affinity photo from the Apple App store they don't work, reason Apple insist every applic...

Re: Calling external snap-installed apps with temp files

And other operating systems? ~.FreeCAD/OpenSCAD/tmp FreeCAD is already writing stuff, preferences ( for example user.cfg ). NOT on a MAC, but I guess one could use FreeCAD facilities to determine where preferences are stored. Disagree that we are miss using the python facilities for temp files. Sna...

Re: Calling external snap-installed apps with temp files

To the original question, I would put the tmp files, that would be cleaned up, in .FreeCAD/ someplace. FreeCAD is writing them. On Win %appdata%/FreeCAD/OpenSCAD/tmp? And other operating systems? Python has facilities for temp files https://docs.python.org/3/library/tempfile.html independent of OS ...

Re: Werner Mayer

Still worried about Werner. He may have made a commit on August the 21st (which was only two lines of code), but still not seen in Forum since 27th July. If one looks at his github activity, its two in May and only three since June. Prior to May he made 278 in 2021. Let's just hope he is okay and wo...

Re: Calling external snap-installed apps with temp files

I got the impression the whole point of snap installing was to place an application in a sand box with no ability to interact. As such I don't think you should try and support and should just state that if people want to use OpenSCAD with FreeCAD then they should not use a snap installation version ...

Re: push to github no longer possible with simple password

When I could no longer login due to the changes, I just created a Personal Access Token.

Somewhere along the line I was prompted to install a bit of software on my Mac ( Sorry don't remember name).
after that the software did its stuff and I just use command line git in the normal way.
