Re: FreeCAD as a replacement for SketchUp

Here is a design I'm working on for a heavy duty control rod for an active project. It will be prototyped in 3d printed plastic and final parts machined from aluminum. I have about 2 hours into these two pieces and another part these connect to. The first thought was to use all-thread and heims but ...

Re: FreeCAD as a replacement for SketchUp

I'm a SketchUp user. FreeCAD and SketchUp do mostly the same thing and yet they are so different. FreeCAD can replace SketchUp for nearly everything I do but I wouldn't assume it can be a direct replacement for your purposes. It was a bit more of a struggle to learn FreeCAD than SketchUp. I used bot...

Re: [SOLVED] Something strange I don't understand

Here is the result of your help, Willem. This crown molding will be 3d printed in ASA and then slid on top of a 6x6 pressure treated wooden post. It's going on a nice balcony. Why not dress it up a bit? The part is currently printing on one of my printers with 23 hours to go. The base is printing on...

Re: [SOLVED] Something strange I don't understand

Brilliant! Take a gold star out of petty cash! 8-) I looked at that mistake for over an hour and couldn't figure it out. BTW, it didn't look like that on my system. I highlighted the vertical member, deleted it, and there was another underneath. They were identically positioned and sized. With the t...

[SOLVED] Something strange I don't understand

I don't understand why this pocket operation is creating distortion. The bottom of this crown moulding should be flat. It's a very straight forward moulding so I don't see any mistakes in my approach but welcome criticism of the approach. If you hide "PocketCrownOgeeWidth", it fixes the di...

Re: [SOLVED] Is there a way to zoom a spreadsheet view?

Feature request submitted.

Sorry for the delay, I've been out of town and didn't want to do it from my phone.

Re: Is there a way to zoom a spreadsheet view?

I just tried Mr. OpenBrain's macro. It's absolutely brilliant!

Thank you and kudos! Super happy.

Re: Is there a way to zoom a spreadsheet view?

Thank you, TheMarkster. 8-) For a few months, I was adding attributes to spreadsheets in a two column format. That would have been helpful, then. That approach proved nonviable so I switched to a multi-column format. This has helped a lot. I've attached a screen shot of the layout I use, these days....

Re: Spreadsheet convert to string

I think you're asking for dynamic string conversion so you can have a string in one cell and the value of the string in another cell. I'm not aware it can do that. In fact, I'm not aware of any functions callable from the Spreadsheet expression editor. I'd love to have a couple of functions, like &q...

[FEATURE REQUEST] spreadsheet zoom

I often wish I could shrink a spreadsheet, to get more on screen. Is there a way?

[Edit: I have created a feature request in the Bug Tracker, at Kunda1's request]
