Re: Refer to length of line in a sketch?
I know I can get what I need with more construction; it would just be more convenient and straight-forward to enter an expression and be done with it.

Refer to length of line in a sketch?
Thought this would have already been answered but search came up empty. Is there a way (in a sketch) to refer to the length of a line in a (the same) sketch? In the attached file, I would like the reference line whose horizontal constraint is labelled "Working_Space" to have a length of 2 ...

Re: Rotate body about a reference line
Finally figured out why I'm confused. Body002 is a clone of Body001. After cloning, it was rotated 90 deg about Z. The Datum Lines in Body001 are not included in the clone. As a consequence, Body002 has two ShapeBinders to get at the datum lines in Body001. The ShapeBinder references are not rotated...

Re: Rotate body about a reference line
Thanks all. I installed the latest daily on a differnet machine (framework laptop running ubuntu-20.10) and it seems to work fine, so it must be my old fbsd build. @thomas-neemann thanks, that method also worked and will be a help. I did notice a strangeness. When creating the sketch, choosing the &...

Re: Rotate body about a reference line
@drmacro I still can't get quite what I need. After rotation, the object is not on the plane of its original top surface. I've attached a slightly simpler version with the unneeded datum points and lines removed. CloneRotateFlip.jpg To reproduce: In tree view, select Body001 and hit spacebar to make...

Re: Rotate body about a reference line
As stated in the original post, draft rotate doesn't allow me to rotate about a line; at least I can't figure out how. It rotates about one of the normal axes. I can do the rotate fine; but then the object is positioned too low. The only way I can see to raise it is to specify some known increment a...

Rotate body about a reference line
I have never figured this out... I have a multi-body part, and need to clone and then re-orient one of the bodies. The re-orientation is a double rotation, first about the Z axis, and then about a reference line. In the attached file, Body001 has been cloned as Body002. Body002 has been rotated 90 d...

Re: Sketch on Datum Plane: select original x- y- z-axis?
It also does not make it possible to select any of the original axes. Select then for what? Sketch contains finite edges and points. Sketch axes are not actually part of the sketch as such. You can not have infinite lines so infinite lines can not be inserted as external geometry. You can create a ...

Re: Create Datum Line from two planes?
Attachment generates a point and direction vector. Which point of the intersection line should be selected as the attachment point? Ah, I see. Throwing out a thought, how about the origin of the first plane selected? That would give the user a bit of control over where it is located. Direction coul...

Re: Create Datum Line from two planes?
Thanks, that's more or less what I did to get the task accomplished. But why can't I create a datum line from the intersection of two planes? Shouldn't that be possible?
