Re: Make a FreeCAD high school version

There may be a custom way to configure FreeCAD using pre-set user.cfg files. We can choose what workbenches, toolbars, and layouts would work for different student demographics. I was even thinking of a way to have a script that will scan the .cfg file and then based on what has been added will util...

Re: From FreeCAD To The Real World

Hi, this is my first post here, I've been lurking a bit before while learning FreeCAD, my thanks to the community for all the great resources. I designed a small tent ("bivy tent") on FreeCAD then sewed it. It was great to get the dimensions of all fabric parts, especially the non rectangular ones....

Interesting: Road planning with slime mould: If Physarum built motorways it would route M6/M74 through Newcastle

Plasmodium of Physarum polycephalum is a single cell visible by unaided eye. During its foraging behaviour the cell spans spatially distributed sources of nutrients with a protoplasmic network. Geometrical structure of the protoplasmic networks allows the plasmodium to optimize transfer of nutrient...

Re: Why FreeCAD has two versions 0.18.3 and 0.18.16131 for the same release?

I was looking at the Repology search results for FreeCAD when I realized that it considers the Chocolatey package 0.18.16131 as outdated. While Scoop and Just-install offer a higher version of 0.18.3. But then from this page , I realized these two are actually the same release. Is there any reason ...

Isn't FreeCAD writing the recent files list after each opening of a file?
I'd need to check it to confirm. What I'm wondering is if some of the user.cfg corruptions that are happening are because of this approach of waiting for FC to close in order to write configs to the .cfg file?

We all know that things can degrade before they get better. And we don't have a mantis-daily for testing.
well said :)

Re: Feature Request: a listening process that reports when {user, system}.cfg have changed

Basically, there are 2 ways the .cfg files (especially the user.cfg) get updated. Either when the preferences are open and saved, or when FreeCAD is closed. The best way to track these changes are using a vanilla copy of user.cfg (renamed to user.cfg.backup ) and then the active user.cfg . Open them...

Works again. But nevertheless I had to add the issue a third time.
apologies, in my attempt to make the life of a bug triage'er easier, I complicated things for others. Hopefully it will run a little more smoothly now.

Re: BugTracker News: New feature requires ticket creation to have FC Info

Alright y'all, sorry for the troubles. I've removed the regex totally. I've made the field required but it already has default text in it so mantis will accept it in anycase (besides it being empty) and won't complain if you don't add your info.
