Re: Opinion ON FEM Result

Thanks - I appreciate your help. :D Downloaded your file, thanks. To run a FEM-analysis (with 3D-element) on such a huge structure is nearly impossible. For a normal PC. Even if you ca fuse all details and the struts to one object, you will get millions of elements. You should run a gloabal analysi...

Nice work!
I like the foundation with the rebars.
Another good example for using freecad as a professional tool.

Re: Opinion ON FEM Result

So my question is should I remove the fixed constraints that you inserted at the bolt holes? Depends on what you want to calculate. In general: for a static calculation in 3D-space the body (frame, plate, bridge, spaceframe...) must be fixed in a way, that a movement/rotation along/among global x/y...

Re: Creating terrain surface from manually collected elevation measurements

Hi,
I use a very simple method (number of points < 100).
We get terrain measurements from the geotechnician.
==> create points, connect points with wires (in arch-wb)
==> connect wires with surface (surface-wb)

Re: dynamic triangulation of a mesh possible?

Hi Herbert, you can use the mesh-refinement options for mesh-design. In this case:cfmesh. Works with gmsh/snappyhexmesh too (but without boundary-layers...) example cfmesh: naca2412.FCStd done with: OS: Windows 10 Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.18.15860 (Git) Build t...

Re: Opinion ON FEM Result

Hi,
I did some modifications on your model:
-deleted all fillets
-adding mesh refinement
When starting a FEM-analysis, try to "unrefine" your model as much as possible to avoid mesh errors.
The critical zone are the corners in the slot....
