Re: Coronavirus mask?

I see. In that case, insulation foam panels can do the trick (probably laminated into 2-3 plies depending on what thickness you're able to find out of hand). It's building material that's bought by the square meter, also used in model making (airplanes, decoration...etc). The advantage I can think o...

Actually if you have access to both fixed height step or fixed lateral shift, you can probably mix an match with computationally less expensive rules.
Then again, i'm no wizard and what I suggest may be much more complicated than I think. Probably is.

Re: Coronavirus mask?

I still believe the whole endeavour will be more efficient and less expensive if you 3D print it. Machining a mask (thin and 3D) is already a difficult task (not to mention ludicrously wasteful) with rigid material. With a compliant polymer, you are just asking for hours upon hours of trying until y...

Well done to the team! There are really exciting things!

As soon as the nightly build is up, I'll give it a shot.

Re: Question: 3D Surface - DropCutter - Offset pattern, does it make sense?

As I understand the problem with this model is that the upper paths are too close together, and the bottom paths to far apart? So, the lateral shifts are what you want to be constant? Would it be okay then, if the depth varied as the cutter moved around the offset path? I'm just trying to both conc...

Step file size too big

Hello Freecaders, I am wondering how exactly FreeCAD does this: - I receive a rather complex .stp file in FreeCAD that is about 3 MB in size. - I remove parts of it. - I export it as step: and it is now 10 MB. In short, I feel like FreeCAD exports .stp files a lot bigger than I feel it should. Perha...

Re: Question: 3D Surface - DropCutter - Offset pattern, does it make sense?

Well it's equivalent to using a small ball end-mill. The path that i produced was technically for a small end mill. The problem in that case is that waterline will not detect surfaces that are close to horizontal (i.e. center of a gutter). But waterline is the only approach that follows the contour ...

Question: 3D Surface - DropCutter - Offset pattern, does it make sense?

Hi, I've been playing around with 3D surface to machine gutters and I have found issues that apparently neither waterline nor dropcutter in their current form will solve: In the screenshot , you will notice that the central area at the bottom of the gutter is left so to speak "unprocessed". In addit...

Re: Fixed Z-height applications in PathWB

It should be entirely in post-processing, otherwise we need other options coded in. When would we need to fix Z height: 1. For 2D cutting applications, to remove retracts. 2. For 3D application. Except in that case, why is the user using 3D at all? He wants some parameter of the machine to follow th...

Re: 3D Surface - Face Selection (New feature) [Merged]

I'm always at 100% when troubleshooting Surface (computing time) and i tried a 1mm and 2mm endmill. And there we go ToolController_Stepover90_NoDefltTool.png The combination of the following solved the particular issue: - Not using default tool (i could reproduce your issue) - Using a proper tool co...
