Hola. Prueba...
1) Importar STL file
2) En el Entorno Part: Part> Create shape from mesh
3) Borrar el mesh y seleccionar solo el nuevo objeto creado
3) Ir a Part> convert to solid

Respected FreeCAD developers, Please see the below link for cad viewer(mayo )based on Open Cascade. If similar cross section /clipping feature with solid section can be implemented in FreeCAD. For example I would use a lighthouse for the blinker and a satellite dish for the receiver Ok. If you decide to use the FreeCAD icons you can reuse the existing ones. By the way, I provided better images for the Artwork Guidelines page because the old ones were PNGs, and now they are SVGs, so they look better, and can be downloaded to be used as reference for creating new icons.
