Re: Reimplementing constraint solver

One interesting example I can think of is constraining three pulleys by a belt. That requires implementing circle and arc geometries, and radius, tangent and length constraints. Getting that ready is going to take quite a bit of time; programming an example will take some time too. But at least it ...

Re: Reimplementing constraint solver

Para meter. I see. I was thinking in a totally different direction. Do you feel using ParamVector, ParamPoint ... would be a few % less ambiguous? Anyway, on to the important things: I don't know, depends on how much involved the example is. If ConstraintSolver is ready enough, it probably can be m...

Re: Frustrations with FreeCAD

Sure.. and great that FreeCad has so big and helpful community, it is surprising me. Well, but I still did not get how to refine already modeled part, left corner -> Data.. and what to do there? If a feature has a refine property, best to use that, if it doesn't have a refine property, not all have...

Re: Copyright holders

Doesn't help much. For sure we aren't talking of an everyday email or discussion. ;) If depends on how often you run FreeCAD from the terminal or use About FreeCAD command. Among proposals, second one has my favor. :) To me that sounds reasonable too. I guess we are now in a phase where it's not al...

Re: Reimplementing constraint solver

for some objects (Vector and Placement), there are two sorts of objects: a Para-version, which holds references to solver parameters, and non-para version, which has straight DualNumbers instead. The Para version is the solver entity, the non-para is for calculations. A non-para Line may also be cr...

Re: Using TD to create hatches in the FreeCAD model

It would be nice to have a Hatch command, to add hatches as real geometry to i guess faces and cross-sections directly in the 3D view.

Re: Copyright holders

"et al" doesn't seem right. Too academic? Indeed: Avoid using et al. in general, everyday speech. It is generally used with academic writing and doesn’t translate well into speech. Opt to include your entire list or say some shorter English equivalent in place of this Latin abbreviation.[9] Instead...

Can you delete the cache for PR.2930 on Travis?
Nop don't do that, as i took another approach today and do need the existing cache for reference purposes.

Re: Reimplementing constraint solver

I went ahead and used Ubuntu 18.04. By default your branch won't compile on Linux using GCC, as it is not C++11 compliant and Werner made that a requirement. I changed (with cmake) the standard to C++14, the same as you use with MSVC and after Py3/Qt5 build finished without issues! I tested the two ...
