Re: Make holes/pockets in the side of cylinders
No refine on object or feature level, only as an extra operation in OpenSCAD workbench or as a global preference. I am not sure if we even had Refine at all back then. We may have, as you say. We didn't when I first used FreeCAD. But we also didn't have Partdesign workbench at all then. We have com...

Re: Make holes/pockets in the side of cylinders
Thanks @edwilliams16 that worked perfectly. Much better than the workaround. I guess I don't remember the process from 8 years ago. Can someone explain, other than the obvious functionality difference between old Part Design ways, what is so different? Note, I e only had one cup of coffee...

Re: Utilisation des Body (projet menuiserie bois)
The best advice is this... what would you do in the real world? If you make the components separately and then assemble them, then that is what you should do in FreeCAD, each component in a separate Body. Then you can easily extract drawings for each individual component, if you need them. If it is ...

Re: Round corner minus Cylinder inverts Body
it's not a bug, think about it, it is impossible for it to exist in the real world, I mean you can't have an infinitely thin wall in the real world, so it can't be a valid solid in FreeCAD.

Re: Round corner minus Cylinder inverts Body
you have created an invalid solid, your "nut" has a tangent face with the hole in the rotation. Just try changing the radius in the Nut sketch and you will see that it becomes valid. You can't have wall that becomes infinitely thin at the tangent intersection, hence the solid is not valid.

Re: Angled Datum
Pad: Result has multiple solids. This is not supported at this time A body object is by definition a single contiguous solid, sounds like you modelled in such a way that the Pad did not intersect whatever was in the body before it. Generally, if you are using a datum plane, then attached it to the ...

Just thought I would let you know that Wandererfan is the developer who wrote most of TechDraw WB, since being new here you wouldn't know.
G'day Chris!

Re: How to rotate an rectangle in 3D by one of its edges or a center line
Stop worrying about how anything is done in any other application also stop focusing on how to force FreeCAD to let you use a specific method that you most likely don't even need to do. For example forget your two examples and focus on the best way to model your widget in FreeCAD. For example why ar...

Re: dimension incorrect value in 3D view
Your first post, welcome to FreeCAD. You are measuring the projected edge, which of course is different to the real edge. There are some properties you have to change. Read the wiki, I think it's all explained in there. I am on my phone and in a hurry I have to get one of my kids to her final high s...
