Re: FreeCAD looks for a new default background color

Hello, Now that's a complicated, potentially conflictual topic, nearly as much as the FreeCAD logo... ;) Some history, if anyone cares about it. The FreeCAD default background colour dates back from its early days, nearly 20 years ago. Juergen Riegel (FreeCAD's founder) based it on CATIA's, which he...

Re: Partially filling a 'loft'

Thanks very much for the suggestions. The 'revolve' solution will definitely help with the outer holes so I just need to give some thought about how to apply your suggestion to pad in different directions for the inner holes. Hi, Your use of the "Pad" term seems to suggest you're using th...

So it's not only me. BTW, I've been unable to login from the forum.freecad.org domain. My credentials only work with forum.freecadweb.org. Don't know if it's normal. I did try to search the forum, but obviously, search being what it is, I came up empty.

Re: [Tip] FreeCAD does square helices!

To create a square helix you can also consider using a Draft_Wire (3D and with a Fillet Radius) as the spine. This has the advantage that the bends are actually circular. See: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?p=622812#p622812 You are right of course, and I did think of it. And I also see ...

Re: Part Extrude ends with "DirLink edge is not a line."

Normand, welcome back. I remember you always has good solutions for all kind of design problems. This time however Roy is better! In your solution North-South has a slope and East-West is flat. Roy's solution has slope in all directions. Roy.pngNormand.png Thanks Willem, but you responded in the wr...

Re: [Tip] FreeCAD does square helices!

Hello, Quickly passing through... Oddly enough, I'm still getting requests to access my old and outdated Square_Helix.fcstd file from 2014 that I had uploaded to my Google Drive, which I'm trying to get rid of because Google, duh. By coincidence, at work today I had to model a spring wrapped around ...

Re: Topic hijacked, I'm no longer interested in trying to maintain it

please rename the topic again, it looks horrible and makes the entire forum look bad.. I will not . I left it entirely to the moderators/admins. The fact that the topic is still pinned as a general announcement is exactly what I wanted to shed to light. Since my angered reply on Saturday, not a sin...

Re: V 0.18 and add-ons

BOLTS and Drawing Dimensioning Addon are pretty much obsolete, as nobody has maintained them in a couple of years. The Addon manager proposes the BOLTSFC fork by forum member bernd and FEM workbench developer. If he was willing, maybe he could update it to work with Python 3. Or maybe a developer k...
