obj.TypeId == 'App::Link' ?
Because this does no check for type inheritance. It does not really matter to App::Link, because there is no object deriving from it in the core. But obj.TypeId == 'Part::Feature' makes a lot less sense that obj.isDerivedFrom('Part::Feature').

@realthunder is a master of PartDesign. He should become a merger for PD.
Thanks for the recommendation. Yes, I am all for it. I would probably need Part commit permission as well once my Topo Naming merge starts.

I need to check if an object is itself an AppLink or not before hasattr().
Type check is simple, obj.isDerivedFrom('App::Link'). But link has many use cases. Type checking like that is not the best way for some. Can you elaborate yours?

Re: Assembly3 preview

Is that behavior documented yet? The hidden edge selection has existed for quite some time. But previously it requires you to hold the 'SHIFT' key. This behavior is now controlled by a setting in Preference - > Draw style -> Hidden line selection. By default, no need to hold the SHIFT key. You stil...

Re: Assembly3 preview

This is a little embarrassing, but I can't figure out how to run this. Are you using Windows? You'll need to install 7zip . Once installed, right click the 7z file you have downloaded, and choose 7-Zip -> Extract here. It will extract the archive into a folder of the same name. Go into that folder,...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Would you mind giving the shortcut thing a try with the same path I have? Im sure if you get the "Windows cant create a shortcut here. Do you want to place the shortcut to the desktop instead?" you will know whats going on. I tried that, and yes it does complain about the shortcut. This is expected...

Re: Assembly3 preview

Before I start to install all the above, is it really nesessary? I assumed those are related to compiling from source? Im running on windows 10 64-bit and using FreeCAD-asm3-Daily-Win64-Py3-Qt5-20210112 By right, you do not need to install anything in order to run it. I just tried the shortcut thin...

Re: Can't link external geometries in sketch when part references a vertex position

PR submitted here . The patch excludes link from expression when checking for Part owner. BTW, link across Part/Body should be discouraged, especially for placement. If you move the Body, your placement will be off. You can of course use a more elaborate expressions to counter the parent Body placem...

Hopefully a little clarification
That's quite ambitious. I think it's too early to discuss this at the moment, simply because that most of the required functionalities are not there yet, like proper texture/bump/parallax mapping support.
