Re: Assembly4: An Alternative to a Mastersketch for 'Solving' an Assembly--Update #9
Should we go through the perimeters of the circles? Yeah, that is how I did it. I measured the X distance from touch down to lift off and solved for a wheel diameter using that as the circumference. That way the wheel will make one 360 deg revolution while in contact with the ground plane. Then, I ...

Re: Using Points for Part Location in Assembly4
have come to the conclusion that an inserted Body will align LCS to LCS on the basis of Colour to Colour (as long as you don't manipulate it on installation). After that its attitude is controlled by the Attachment Angle. Please tell me if that is correct. Yes, but not necessarily "color to co...

Re: Procedure to design new part to fit other assembled parts?
I gather that, once you start drawing your new part (which has its origin at the LCS of the existing part), you then make no further references to the existing part(s)? Generally, no. Only visual references. I usually do not attempt to link all the various parts parametrically. It can quickly becom...

Hopefully, with these various examples, you have gained an appreciation for the many different ways an assembly can be solved using Assembly4 LCS's, expressions, and attachment modes.

Re: Assembly4: An Alternative to a Mastersketch for 'Solving' an Assembly--Update #9
In this final example, a mastersketch is again used to solve the assembly but without requiring any attachment to it. This is a concealed hinge similar to that presented in a previous post that utilized an empirical approach with expressions and attachment mode assembly constraints. This example, sh...

Re: Procedure to design new part to fit other assembled parts?
Can you design your new part right in the assembly screen, so that: -- you can see how it interacts with all of the other parts --you can somehow use the measurements from the existing parts I use PartDesign and Assembly4 workbenches for this purpose. An example is here: https://forum.freecad.org/v...

Re: Using Points for Part Location in Assembly4
you had an LCS at the Pivot Hole which would have mated with an LCS on the triangular Shoulder (NB-01-001). Wouldn't that make rocking the Shoulder to and fro a bit difficult? No. It is better than using a point which has unpredictable origin axis orientation. ...trying to add 134 degrees gives me ...
