Re: Bug #4123 - MacOS "Datum (whatever dimension) mm for the constraint with index (whatever constraint) is invalid."

Thanks for taking the time to provide the feedback. I see your point regarding the solver. I'll be sure to be more careful about the redundant constraints.

Re: Change transparency of a part

Would a macro be acceptable ? Yes, I think that would be fine. I Ctrl-selected them both and changing the View/Transparency property changed both their transparencies. You can group select in the tree using standard highlight controls and set transparency of the whole highlighted. That almost gets ...

Change transparency of a part

I bumped into an issue where I want to change the transparency of an object which is a part. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be possible to change the transparency of a part object. I can descend into the part object and change the transparency of the individual bodies within them but I have som...

Re: Bug #4123 - MacOS "Datum (whatever dimension) mm for the constraint with index (whatever constraint) is invalid."

Thank you for the clarification. I think in most cases I always fixed the redundant constraints. But in a few cases I "did not agree" with the solver's view that constraint was redundant ;-) Of course, I was wrong. Notwithstanding my wrongness, there is usually a strategy I am attempting to use when...

Re: Restore a link

have the second file that you are linking something to, loaded in FreeCAD at the same time I thought to try that approach but I was not able to resolve the issue. I should have mentioned that I am linking several part models with Assembly 4. I have several parts that have their own FreeCAD model an...

Restore a link

I encountered an issue with Assembly4 where the file that was linked was moved to another directory. I see a console message "LinkedObject: Link not restored". Is there a way to "restore" the link and tell FreeCAD where the file moved to?

ignoring the error and charging ahead just does not work
I never interpreted the redundant constraints as "errors" ... is that in fact the case? They should be considered errors?

Re: Bug #4123 - MacOS "Datum (whatever dimension) mm for the constraint with index (whatever constraint) is invalid."

Agreed. I am simply bringing attention to the need to clarify the error message when someone has an opportunity to do so.

Re: Bug #4123 - MacOS "Datum (whatever dimension) mm for the constraint with index (whatever constraint) is invalid."

Yes, that is why I am aware there is a redundant constraint. From the error message provided it is not clear that the failure to apply the vertical constraint is related to the redundant constraint. So, unless you are aware of this (which I believe the OP was not), it is not obvious this is causing ...
