Re: BIM/Arch development news articles from Yorik's blog

I have no clear idea yet, but basically: - All "Arch" tools will be renamed to "BIM" (So Arch_Wall becomes BIM_Wall) - Everything that is currently in the BIM WB will be there So I would say there is something that can already be done now: Go through all the BIM tools, and create...

1.0 feature freeze in sight

Hi all, The work on Toponaming is almost complete, thanks to the hard work of bgbsww, calligarov and chennes! We are expecting to "flip the switch" (enable toponaming mitigation, at the moment the code is there but it's not active) in the coming weeks, and there is a test suite being built...

Manual update

I'm happy to announce the FPA has contracted adrianos to update the FreeCAD manual at https://wiki.freecad.org/manual Adrianos is a long-time solidworks user and new to FreeCAD, which I think will be beneficial as he'll have a fresh look and a better chance to detect inaccuracies or wrong things in ...

There is a mechanism that detects if the file has been modified externall...

Re: BIM/Arch development news articles from Yorik's blog

What I see here is that indeed we need a better and more detailed plan for view/annotations/2d stuff. And yes it seems the Draft way is the (currently) best way to go. I'll be fairly busy now with NativeIFC, but that's something we can plan in parallel, and who knows, more people get interested in w...

Re: FreeCAD 1.0 Logo Refresh

Just a few tweaks to the current logo: no highlights, finer outline, a bit rotated gear, a tiny bit more "punchy" colors.

Re: BIM/Arch development news articles from Yorik's blog

But in Draft/Arch Dimension we need to make a deep refactoring of the very useful tool to measure like https://wiki.freecad.org/Arch_Survey that it's strategic and important even for BIM, especially for surface and volume measure and to send that to plan annotation/dimension for a regular architect...

Re: BIM/Arch development news articles from Yorik's blog

Basically I see it like this: The problem (in absolute terms it's not exactly a problem but let's call it a problem here), is that we have two different ways to place dimensions: One in TechDraw and one in Draft. At this moment, we have problems with TechDraw dimensions: 1) they don't work on the 2D...
