Re: FreeCAD versioning scheme and possible evolution

Note that we likely have the whole March, to figure it out. As for the last proposal by @kkremitzki. We could therefore prepend an additional string, like "dev", to the patch number, to make things even more clear. And i guess this would be future proof, if we ever decide to do releases like "beta"....

Re: FreeCAD versioning scheme and possible evolution

OK, therefore as there is only one of each: 0.18.0 0.18.1 0.18.2 Commit number should be omitted everywhere or just in some specific places? Having an access to commit number from Python likely still does make sense? Number .1 and .2 ... hence indicating a back-port releases. As for the rest: 0.18.0...

Re: 0.19pre, StartWB never open up Start page

No, we shouldn't further hinder Start workbench. People that don't want to use Start workbench should set another workbench to be the default one on FreeCAD start.

Re: Start page keeps coming back

I had a feeling introducing such "workbench filters" might in some way fire back. As different people are in the end expect different things to happen. What likely should have happened in this thread is to say the current behavior is the expected behavior. If you don't want default behavior, change ...

Re: 0.19pre, StartWB never open up Start page

When you use such .pyd file you are basically resulting to using older behavior. Basically what happened is some users complained this should change and you now see the changed behavior as being inconsistent.

Re: Start page keeps coming back

This is likely related? https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=43566 Currently, once one closes Start workbench document tab, activating Start workbench won't bring it back anymore. Likely that is not intended behavior? P.S. But i can see on how people from this thread and the linked thre...

If you close Start page, then you cannot open it in current session.
Seems happen to only Windows build.
Indeed, and it's not just Windows related. I have a strong feeling, this is related to the linked thread. I will ask there.

Re: PR#3062: Refactor expression completer and unit expressions

Lack of verbose expression auto completion support for sure was one of the sore spots. Good to see this will improve in the future.

P.S. At the time it got implemented, the rationale, to be less verbose and hence user friendly, was the performance penalty.

Likely related:

P.S. Or if there is any packaging issue involved, best to fix that there. Based on the discussion, currently i am not 100% sure on what the main problem is?
