Interesting, did you have the same import and mesh quality preferences on both? Maybe your light source is oriented fully on the Z axis ? You can tweak it in Preferences -> Display -> Light Sources. that is the culprit @easyw-fc maybe it has something to do with the latest material appearance changes? maxwxyz @maxwxyz adjusted the default material appearance to better display ...
