Press/announcement text for FreeCAD 0.20

Post by uwestoehr »

This thread is to write a press and an announcement text for FreeCAD 0.20. The press text will highlight the new features. Ideally this will be a separate Wiki page and maybe with a video.

The announcement text will be more technical and inform people about or plans with the merge of @realthunder's toponaming work.

Every idea is welcome.

To start directly with the work, I created this new Wiki page:

@Roy_043 , can you please bring the page back? You deleted it before I was ready.

You copy-pasted the text here:
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 68#p602768

Why would you still need the original?

Edit: The other text is the same, but without the list and without the mention of the TPN issue.

There was another text. But when I cannot see it, I cannot tell what this was.

Why do I have to answer questions here why I would need a text? The question is why did you delete a text without even asking? And when I request you to bring it back you don't just do this.

I managed the release and this includes the announcement and press work. I don't see what I am to blame of.

I am not blaming you. This is just a mistake I made. I have no way to undo it, sad to say. But the two text were largely the same. See my previous post.

Is there no backup copy to undo the deletion?

The page was split in 2 sections:
- short press text
- larger for forum announcement

The page should have been reused for following releases e.g. for 0.20.1. When it does not come back, Chris and I lost some work and that would be sad.

I can see the file. The log shows this:

Code: Select all

15:03, 16 June 2022 Roy 043 talk contribs block deleted page Release texts 0.20 (Text used for: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=69496) (view/restore)
Would I overwrite something serious if I (try to) restore it?
