How to create a path for a chamfer

Postby DomCa » Mon Dec 02, 2019 12:35 pm

Hi all,

I just posted my router table fence in the show case.
The fence has two parts that comprise a chamfer. I would now like to know how to create the path for that chamfer
I do have a chamfer mill (90°, 6mm).
Is it possible to create a path for the chamfer with FreeCAD, Path workbench? Everything I tried did not work out...

I know, I could use my new router table to chamfer the part ;)
However, I would like to do it all in FreeCAD, Path and with my CNC.

I attach the file of the part (it is used 2x).

Thanks!
DomCa

Hello friend,

For this kind of operation you need to use sliptonic's nifty Deburr operation.

It will realize your wildest chamfering dreams.

The reason the op is called "Deburr" is because it doesn't actually deal with modeled Chamfers. You can use that op to cut a chamfer on any edge of your model. However, if the edge is part of a chamfer in the model the op will probably not do what you want.

Sliptonic's deburr operation will ONLY realize dreams since it doesn't exist in the real world. For actual chamfering, I suggest you use mlampert's deburr operation which is quite nice. :D
