Lead in out dressup for inside profile

Postby Bendall » Wed Oct 14, 2020 11:40 am

I'm trying to figure out how to do add the lead in dressup for an inside profile. I cant get the lead in and out to go inside of the pocket I'm trying to do. Maybe I'm missing something. Any help would be great.

This is what I got.

Set a negative value >= radius for "extend in/out"

Thanks that worked good. I had originally tried that but I had to change the start point to get it right.

Hello to all,

The negative vs. positive value for lead-in and lead-out is not a very clear system. Do you think a toggle between "inside" and "outside" with their respective amplitudes in mm would be clearer?

I think that would be a nice enhancement.

Thanks,

Same think for me working with a plasma cutter:
My needs/wish list:
- chose a individually start point for every cut.
- I think it could be a huge improvement for the path-WB, if the Profil operation shows the single individual cuts somewhere. Than its possible to optimize the cutting order, too. And it's possible to make some other changes...
- a mouse picker for the individual start points, of an profil-Operation similar to the tags

The path with the negative lead-in value for the entry makes no sense, because the path go forward and backward again in oposite directions ( with the red hand-draw line, the positiv lead-out-value is just to show better the directions)

Thanks

I had the same thing and to fix the lead going forward and back i put the start point in the middle of a straight edge. I had to change it in the property view. Hope that will help you.

The profile operation supports a designated start point. If you require a custom startpoint for every cut, you can create individual profiles for just those edges/faces and then assign a start point.

Same thing. If you want control over ordering and individual cut, just create individual operations.

hmm. At one point we had this and it used the Draft snapper for setting the point. I think we use something similar for setting holding tag locations.
No reason this can't be added to the profile start point selection.
