Here's the place for discussion related to CAM/CNC and the development of the Path module.

For me as a non native English speaker and non native machinist I cannot contribute to fnding the right notion. However, it should be uniformly helpful to have a drawing explaining the definitions.

Hi,
Would it be possible to include a graphic showing what the user has specified for the tool shape? This would clear up lots of misunderstandings!

Great idea. We could start with sketches of mills and drills showing the different measures. In the next step - as soon as someone is willing and able to implerment it - it could be sort of animated, i.e. change the appropriate constraints according to the users input.

Hi -- has any progress been made on this? I'm trying to figure out how to put my tools into the workbench and I'm struggling with these parameters. The manufacturer of my bits did not send any measurement information, so it's hard to understand what numbers I need to put. So far I've only been able to put the cutting edge diameter and length.

Diameter is the only parameter FC cares about, everything else at this point is for your own record keeping.

As for progress see this thread :(

I am currently working on a way to simplify / clarify tooling parameters. Thread here: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=26290
