Milling with non-vertical walls

Post by Vcoder »

Is it possible to create path for milling an item with non-vertical walls? Like an example.

Currently there is no support for 5-axis-machines. You can create a path approximating the tapered shell. You have to do some additional work to use the 3D-Pocket or you can use the third party tool opencamlib.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

No, there is no need for 5-axis here. 3-axis and ball end mill bit is enough.

Could You please link me to an article or video describing the needed work?

Hi,
its possible if you add abuttom to your part, - like on the pic:

To get the path you have to select the Wall and the bottom face and click 3D Pocket. But be aware that Path not respects the shape of the endmill atm.

You could take a regular (flat) endmill and set the stepdown small for little "stairs".

Is there a roadmap for the implementation yet? Thank you!
