Here's the place for discussion related to CAM/CNC and the development of the Path module.

I was trying the V-carve option in the Path WB today but ran into the error below.
Guess I'm doing something wrong but not sure where to look..
Is it the dependancy with openvoronoi, ?
It looks like you might be trying my original openvoronoi implementation. Is that right?
No need to anymore. The vcarve operation has been entirely rewritten using boost-voronoi and is merged into master now. It does not require any openvoronoi at all.

It's still my intention to do a video about it but...time.

Thx sliptonic,

Clear.
I'm using the integrated version thus.. No external implementation has been done.

Meanwhile I tried other fonts and some are working fine, others not.
Guess it's trail by error to see which ones work fine.

Another thing I noticed is the input parameter Treshold.
Help text says "valid values 0.0 to 1.0 with a default of 0.8 , however it does not allow decimals.

That's just a mistake in the GUI. I repurposed the field in the panel and didn't change the help text.

The value that's being passed in is now an angle to filter on. It's used to determine if two segments are colinear. The field currently takes only integers between 0-180 but I'm going to limit it to 0-90

Some fonts definitely work better than others.

My first ever V-Carve in Plywood :D using the FreeCad Path WB V-Carve option.
Now a little sanding to finish it.
Thanks so much for your efforts.......

IMHO, this should be the official response to new features resulting in actual physical things being made and we should all celebrate with a cookie. Maybe the good people at Nabisco will sponsor us.

@sliptonic . I switched to the new ToolBit setup.. Removed the .Freecad folder and restarted FC.
Tried to create a new 3D-Surface model with the new Toolbit approach but ran into an error :
16:20:11 Failed to map selected tool to an OCL tool type.
16:20:11 PathSurface.ERROR: Canceling 3D Surface operation. Error creating OCL cutter.
In the old setup , I had to select the Engraver bit that made it work.
Is this changed now ?

A random thought:
Paging back in the Path forum a full year shows no thread along the lines of "I made this with Path" where users share images of successful projects.
A person scanning this forum for the first time could be left with the impression that Path is full of features that just-don't-work. That doesn't describe my experience at all but it's the nature of forums.
If someone doesn't open the Success thread soon I'll post one with the junk I make and that would be a horrible way to start :)
For English help on youtube check out Joko Engineering or Mango Jelly Solutions.
Look for recent videos, this software is updated at a rapid pace.

That probably because it's not the Path forum, it's the development/Path forum.

Maybe Users Showcase is what you are looking for.
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewforum.php?f=24

Maybe having sub forums there may be helpful for people looking to find something relevant to what aspect of FreeCAD they are interested in.
