Cutting time calculation in Path Workbench

Post by sapanshri »

How can we get the cutting time for path generated on path workbench without actually running it on a machine?

Hi sapanshri, welcome to FreeCAD.

This is not yet possible.

I use the Camotics simulator https://camotics.org/ to get an idea of the run time. The simulator adds up all the moves, but it does not know anything about the actual machine acceleration and deceleration. Therefore the total time is a bit optimistic. Still useful, however, to get a general idea.

Just a thought, from a non-coder perspective :

The following forum posts deals with returning the length value of a profile:

Depending on job selection, can the output path be measured this way per operation? if we have the distance from the get go, it becomes rather simple to estimate durations does it not?

Kind regards,

J.
