3D surface path shifted (bug / regression ?)

Here's the place for discussion related to CAM/CNC and the development of the Path module.

3D surface path shifted (bug / regression ?)

Postby Gauthier » Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:54 am

Hi all,
Recently, I found a difference between the v0.18.4 (standard Debian Bullseye version) and the v0.19 (my last update from github is 0.19.19535 (Git)).
On the v0.19, the working tool path is offseted from the workpiece. It begins before the material and undergoes a shift during the last pass.
See pictures:
In v0.19:

and in v0.18.4:

In v0.18, the tool path in not shifted, but the Drop cutter direction is wrong wich was corrected in 0.19...

Do I have to report a new bug in the tracker for this ?

No, you never report bugs, which have already been corrected in the current version. See also this topic https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=41997 for the new 3D surface stuff. It's still work in progress, so if you encounter issues you may post to that topic.

Hi @chrisb,

Thanks for your reply and the link...
But this link tell about a totaly new algorithm wich is not already merged in master...
The actual master 3D surface Path still have this bug.

I have downloaded and tested this new 3D surface version, and it dont work for me :-(

I think we need to keep the actual version as "3D full Solid milling" jointly with the new 3D Surface algorithm, but with this "shift bug" corrected...
