Has anyone tried to create a post processor for a Denford Mill? I just got hold of a 2600 and have been using freecad for a few years. Would love to get freecad talking Denford but I don't know Python.
Hoping someone out there already does!
The posted this on their forum but I wouldn't know where to start. http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1370
Thanks

Re: Denford Mill Post Processor
I don't know anything about Denford, but the page you referenced looks a lot like common linuxcnc g-code.
The basic movements appear to be the same, but there may be other codes that are required for operation setup. As long as the basic motions are OK it would not require much coding to add the special setup codes.
The first step is to find out the Denford code requirements.
I would also go ahead and try a simple linuxcnc file in a safe manner, with slow movement and lots of clearance.

Re: Denford Mill Post Processor
I have 2 Deford Machines, A Triac and a NovaTurn, The Triac has been converted to LinuxCNC but the Lathe still runs VR Turning and it works great, I wrote my own post for Fusion [1], however, I am currently working on adding Lathe functionalilty to the Path workbench [2] and will probably need to create a post for VR Turning.veryevil wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 10:00 pm Has anyone tried to create a post processor for a Denford Mill? Thanks
If we need to create a new post for the Denford products I would be happy to help.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Denford Mill Post Processor
Hi, that would be great. I've got Denford VR Milling to test the files on in simulation and on my real machine. Don't have a lot of time available but happy to do some testing when I can.
I've only just started to look at the Path workbench so need some time on that as well.
