[solved] Expensive Milling

Post by dasarne »

Hello all,
I would like to mill a ring with two depths. Can anyone give me a tip on how I can save myself from having to mill the whole plane?

In the "Base Geometry" tab , select the inner vertical face as well. Although it does not get machined it limits the face that does.
If you need to machine the vertical face ( diameter ) you could use profile, assuming the hole already exists.

Hello bmsaus4ax,
thank you very much for the tip.
Unfortunately, that didn't work for me at first. I inserted the two faces in the "Base Geometry" tab and pressed Apply. The result was unchanged:

You sent a screenshot which showed that it works. So I stuck hard and I changed the parameters and came up with the following correlation.
If I change the "Step over Percent" from 50 to 75 it suddenly works:

With a "Step over Percent" of 50 and a different tool controller it worked then:

I am satisfied with this at this time but call attention to the problem here.

I could prove the behavior with FreeCat 0.19 (Community) and FreeCat 0.20 (appImage) under ManjaroLinux.
