Hi, I am Shailesh and I am doing a convergence test using FEM bench in FreeCAD. I am new to all this.
I am creating a improved fatigue stress model by adding a hole in a plate with opposite notch. I am trying to do a convergence test for that particular model.
NO matter what I change in the hole (the hole dimensions or other parameters) I am not getting a clean mesh. It says a warning of worst distortion or ill mesh elements.
Does anyone have any suggestions or any idea about what is wrong with my process or model?

Re: Having problem with meshing a model to perform convergence test
You can try to run a 2D-analysis with shells, which makes meshing a lot easier.
Goto Arch-workbench and extract a face from the body with the Facebinder-tool.
The Facebinder is coupled to the body sketch, changes in sketch appear in Facebinder.
Use 2d-meshing option in GMSH.
In the solver data-tab activate Shell output 3D = true, the result plot shows thickness
You should use FreeCAD FC0.20 version for FEM.

I hate this kind of solutions... There is (again )another WB needed to get a (valid )result.
Everything where sheetmetal is part of the model forgot FC...
