FEM theory in current FreeCAD implementation

Post by mviljamaa_ »

What scientific/engineering theory is currently implemented in FreeCAD FEM?
E.g. direct stiffness method.

I'm not really familiar with the topic, but FreeCAD uses Calculix. I'd suggest checking its documentation to see what it is based on.
Need help? Feel free to ask, but please read the guidelines first

As drei stated. FreeCAD FEM Module uses CalculiX. Check out CalculiX manual:

Elements: C3D4 (Tet4, http://web.mit.edu/calculix_v2.7/Calcul ... ode32.html) and C3D10 (Tet10, http://web.mit.edu/calculix_v2.7/Calcul ... ode33.html)

Material: linear, elastic (http://web.mit.edu/calculix_v2.7/Calcul ... de114.html)

calculation: static (http://web.mit.edu/calculix_v2.7/Calcul ... de125.html)

Hope that helps. It seams you're gone know more about FEM background. If you could provide more informations about theory in short I'm happy to put them to the wiki.
