Material characteristics and units

Post by MrRossi »

Hello Forum members

I wanted to make a few FEM calculations but failed in setting the material.
Is there any chance to modify the units?
E.g. Density = kg/mm³
That`s not very common.
Besides, I can`t insert a density at all. Aluminium has a density of 2700 kg/m³.
That would be 0.0000027 kg/mm³. Always after enter this value, it appears 0.00 kg/mm³.

Also the units for specific heat and conductivity are very un-common.
Can I change this anywhere?

Thanks for help.

Regards
Christian

Hi and welcome to FreeCAD FEM

Change the unit system to m/kg ... in the preferences would work. But this is a bit to much IMHO. What works for me too is just change the unit in the material task panel. It does not convert the value. Means you need to change the value too. But it keeps the changed value and unit.

Hi bernd

Already tried to change the unit in directly in the panel. Doesn't work. Always jumps back to initial units.

Failed to setting the material. Man...
Have you done your work in the cfd-wb after hours of discussions?

Hello

@thschrader:
No, I haven`t. I haven`t found time to test. April is a very busy month, at home and on work too.

Hope I can do this in the next weeks.
