hi Damian,
i don't know nothing about FEM and VTK but one thing, you should use the on-going 0.19 version for that trials.

you may notice on the wiki page you put, on right side you read 0.19.

In 0.19 all stress values of the stress tensor are exported FreeCAD results to VTK file format or available if you create a VTK result pipeline in FreeCAD.
