Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
How to create such disc with center point?
Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
only fix rotation is possible, but I can not describe by hand and I'm not on my computer ... Will post when I'm on my computer, but cound be next year
Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
(It is possible to create a face from edges by Part → Shape Builder.)
Then if you create a point with coordinates in the middle of the face, you can “union” all by Part → Split → BooleanFragments, and than apply constraint on the point and make a mesh from the Boolean Fragments object.
Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
Yup. Just apply zero displacements to the central node and it will only be able to rotate around the 3 axes.fandaL wrote: ↑Sun Dec 30, 2018 6:12 pm(It is possible to create a face from edges by Part → Shape Builder.)

Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
Works! I've made cross shaped shell inside axels and assigned constraint to edge. I've tried this before but it works with shell only. Thank you! I will post some nice results when I optimize rear triangle.
One thing I can't figure out: how to prevent face name change inside union, so I can safely assign thicknesses to faces.

Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
There's performance problem when applying thicknesses. Remeshing of model takes here about 8secs, calculation is also insanely fast, but applying thicknesses takes about 10 minutes(!). As usual file is attached and screen from newest version with many cleanups and bent chainstays.
I've also noticed that FreeCAD generates two results, dunno why.
Anyone has solution for somehow keeping names of faces? Even after small model chainge I need to reapply thicknesses for measurement parts...
Need to add more force points now. Here is nice reading:

Almost finished. 20000N will be enough to brake all bones

Re: Bike frame FEM trouble
One more thing to go: how to do setup for disc brake? Should I just apply linear force or is there way to add torque?
