Postby felixlee868 » Wed Jul 24, 2019 8:08 am

Hi
I want to know If FreeCAD can use command line tools to calculate FEM result ?

Let use Blender to design 3D project. I can use notebook to design 3D part. and use. my Linux Box (Server that owns 24 cores) to render the result.

I want use my notebook to design part and use Linux server to calculate FEM result. and let the result display my notebook.

1. Prepare model on your notebook (N)
2. Generate input file for CalculiX, but don't run the calcs. Save the file somewhere accessible for your server (S)
3. Run CalculiX on (S) using the input file. You can do it directly from command line
4. Go back to your (N) and import the results generated by CalculiX

@bernd: could you please confirm that importing results is possible? Unfortunately I can't to it myself.

importing frd files (Calcuix result files) works out of the box and should work for you too ?!? Just open it with the GUI to try if it works. There are some frd example files on any FreeCAD with FEM module: https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/tree ... tfiles/ccx

IMHO this makes sense if you do not use FreeCAD to prepare the CalculiX input file. If you use FreeCAD FEM to script the analysis and use FreeCAD FEM to write the input file, it makes sense to use FreeCAD FEM for running CalculiX too.

I just don't have access to my laptop right now, I'm sure it works! Thanks! :D
