structural pipes

Post by Kjetil »

Hello,

I want to make a structural analysis of a pipe construction, hence I used the connect and sweep macro to create a structure. But somehow I cannot connect the elements to one body.

How does one create 3d pipe structures for FEM operations?

I am not interested in bending steel, but maximal stress before structural failure and where cracks start.

Your question was how to connect the pipes and that post explains how to do that. What you use the model for is entirely a different matter.

Fuse 2 or more cylinders, use the "facebinder"-tool in arch-wb
to extract a 2D-shell. With the "ElementGeometry2D" you can define
the shell thickness.
