Maybe you should add the "the right click option".
Means: select mesh in model tree, right-click opens dialog, then use "clear mesh" option.
Thats how I use this function.

EDIT: Actually even better, my initial procedure does not exist in FreeCAD! apparently your way is THE way.

FYI:
It does not delete the mesh from FreeCAD. It reiniitialize the mesh from the FreeCAD FEM mesh object. The mesh still exists but does not have any vertices, edges, faces or elements. You can test in the property view or if you show the mesh properties. It does not say the mesh does not exists because the mesh is there, it is just empty. I adapted the documentation in this regard.
