So I just had a couple of days of trying to subdivide a volume to be able to refine some volumes.
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 0&start=50
I kept doing this, which I thought was correct:
1) Created 2 bodies in PART workbench and placed one at the center of the other
2) Created BooleanFragments (resulting in 3 solids) ... set mode to CompSolid !
3) Apply a CompoundFilter (can't mesh BooleanFragments?!)
5) Create a mesh using the CompoundFilter and create Mesh Groups using the associated Solids from the exploded compound
6) Do the same with materials and boundary conditions
From <https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=26517>
And it just kept not working. So I decided to make a little block sample with the sub divisions. And that worked, so then I go back to the complex model and keep trying to replicate the small sample that worked. But it would not work!
Finally I decided I had it. So I deleted the GMSH meshing feature and the refinement features below it. I had kept them during this whole time so I didn't have to go pick volumes again over and over. Well as it turns out, that is what did it! You just have to delete the previous mesh. Otherwise, just hitting recalculate after reshuffling slice-boolean fragments-compound filter in all their possible combinations does not update the way it will re-mesh. It seems to keep something in place that prevents it from re calculating. Even if you remove all the refinement surfaces and volumes and pick them again, something fails to refresh.

Re: GMSH Mesh settings reset
Hello!
If you object is any kind of axially symmetrical (round), then i would also read this: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?p=485203. I have also struggled with this. If you have file or pictures, then i could help more. Also when you need faces for forces (not contact faces), you could read this: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?t=52999.

Would you post a file to better repeat your problem?
