Feature Request: sketcher - Direct switch between reference and real geometry

Hello to all,

In order to construct a new sketch based on existing geometry:

The current workflow is:

- Reference geometry from the shape-binder of a sketch
- Reconstruct/retrace the geometry (3 positioned clicks for a single arc, can result in a large number of clicks).

Proposed improved workflow:

- Reference geometry from the shape-binder of a sketch
- Transform the reference into construction/real geometry (1 click on the "switch" button).

Is this feasible? is it even a reasonable expectation?

This has already been discussed several times. I think Abdullah has it on his radar. Meanwhile you may use CarbonCopy instead and delete unwanted geometry.

Thanks for the heads up. Will focus on getting better at Carbon Copy (currently i often fail at using it correctly).

But you can try realthunders fork, he has implemented this function to sketcher.

Enhanced sketch external geometry, which can be:

• Defining, i.e. used for shape building

• Frozen, i.e. no auto update when source geometry changes, but can be manually synchronized

• Detached from source geometry

• Re-attached

Yay that is awesome! can't wait for RT's branch to be merged.
