Which way to go, Assy 3 or 4 ?

Post by emax »

Hello all,

now being back to FreeCad with a mostly defeated TNP, I am starting to climb the hill further. Currently, I am brooding about the "right" Assembly WB. There are tons of threads about both of them, but what I couldn't find out is:

  • What is the future Assembly WB ?

- Is Assembly 4 a successor of Assembly 3?
- Is it a fork?
- Is it something completely different?
- What are the main differences (beyond the solver question)?

I am a bit clueless where to start. The Assy 3 WB shows many more tool-icons on the top, but does this mean, that she is more powerful?

Please give me a starter. Learning is not the problem. But learning the "right" thing is.

Thanks in advance!

Hello emax,

well - it depends - especially on your needs - by the way - you forgot to mention A2+.
Each WB has her own benefits and philosophy(!) so it might be possible that they will coexist forever.

I'd like to suggest that you work yourself through the video-tutorials which can be found and make your desicion which one to use by yourself.

Regards,
Stefan

Thank you for the Link.

Didn't find this with my search arguments. I will read this first.

Your answers at least tell me, that there is no "this-is-the-assembly-wb-of-choice" answer.
