Workplane work around for A2plus

Post by dan-miel »

I haven’t seen anything on work planes for A2 plus lately so I assume they are not possible yet. Here are some samples of work around planes made with Surfaces.
The assembly has 3 planes one for each axis and a sphere for the origin.
These are a rectangle created in the draft work bench with a surface added. Step by step is below.
Constraints work on these so you can add this to a part as a center line. If you want it at an angle you can set it up in the Data properties or with a constraint.

I have not used these in a project but I believe they are a good workaround for work planes.
Dan

Start New part.
Open Draft workbench.
In Utilities dropdown select Selectplane
View dropdown Standard View > view for the plane selected
Click Rectangle
Draw a rectangle with two clicks
Highlight Rectangle
Set XYZ placements.
Set height and width.
Open Surface workbench.
Click the wavy blue and red icon, “Create surface from 2,3 or 4 Boundary edges.”
Click Add Edge.
Select the four edges.
OK.
Save.
I set the visibility in the assembly.

When I made the sample planes I set the XYZ position so when the work plane is added to the assembly you can enter 0, 0, 0 as the xyz positions and the plane will be located as it appears in the sample assembly.
