I asked about that because your previous print screen showed a Mod/FreeCAD-assembly-master subdirectory. I have no such named FreeCAD-assembly-master subdirectory when I download the Linkstage3 pre-build. So....?

Understand.
That is an additional download I did to make Assembly 3 work for my 0.19 FreeCAD
as per:
https://github.com/realthunder/FreeCAD_ ... stallation
...If you are using one of the official FreeCAD pre-built images, then Assembly3 is already bundled inside.
But it may not always contain the latest version.
To install the latest version, just clone this repository to your FreeCAD user module directory.
Depending on which platform you are on, the directory is located at

Windows: c:\Users\<your_user_name>\AppData\Roaming\FreeCAD\Mod
removing it solves the issue for LinkStage3 but messes it up for 0.19
nothing is simple

I only use portable versions of FreeCAD without any installation. Although the two versions (0.19 stable and LinkStage3) are installed in different directories, Realthunder made sure that the configuration files of the 2 versions are different :

Same here, but the Mod directory is shared, assembly 3 should be the same for both?

Maybe (likely) it is something I messed up.
I will clean and re-install 0.19.1 and see if it helps...

OK, I have un-installed 0.19
Linkstage3 and FreeCAD-0.20 work fine and have Assembly 3 working OK.

I then followed with installation of official 0.19 version from here:
https://www.freecadweb.org/downloads.php

and that was the result:

no_assy3.jpg
no_assy3.jpg (44.25 KiB) Viewed 2651 times

That's why I was messing up with manual installation as per:
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=57224

clearly a known problem, and although Assembly 3 should work OK with 0.19 - it doesn't

I want to "experiment" with Linkstage3 and "use" latest official release of 0.19 for everyday use.
So I will try again to manually install Assembly 3 in 0.19 and hopefully not mess up LinkStage3...

Yes, same here now as well

My official branch looks different (Assembly3 doesn't work now):

Mine looks the same and works OK now

So in conclusion (at least afaiac) there is a problem with official 0.19 version
For now (rather than mess again with manual install of Assembly 3 in official 0.19)
I am using Linkstage3 and latest 0.20 both of which come with Assembly 3 pre-installed.
Hopefully 0.19.2 (when available) will have this issue sorted out...

I got it working on 0.19 by copying the workbench from linkstage3 package into my user mod folder so it includes the solver there

Yes, I got it working on 0.19 as well, but this (somehow) has caused problems with LinkStage3.
To be honest there are limits to my ability to mess with computers
and I want to "use" FreeCAD for my projects, rather than making FreeCAD into my "project", so I will wait until next release ...

and for now LinkStage3 is perfect for learning of Assembly3 :ugeek:
