Too long processing time

Post by Routerworks »

Not sure if it is normal or not. When I open up an assembly file that may have about 10 attachments, it takes minutes for it to load. Also any changes or addition of components take minutes to load.
I am using A2plusV0.4.52
If I can do something to improve it that would be great, if not that's ok too. It still works great.

Thanks,

Routerworks

Just opening an assembly file should not take that much time using a medium class computer. No solving is active during this, only objects and it's geometry are loaded.

What machine are you using and how many MByte is the size of your assembly file?

The size of your assembly file is not so big, that it could cause such long opening time. And your computer should also be fast enough. If you want that i have a look at the file, i can send you a PM with my email-address for uploading it. It is to big to post it here.

Thank you very much for your help. I can't send this file as I would like to keep it confidential for myself and the project I am working on.
Apparently no one else has experienced this so it could be something in my file. I'll see what happens on the nest build.
One last question if I may. Is this the preferred assembly WB or should I be looking at some other program.

Many thanks.

Follow up.
I attached a file I had to convert from a STEP file format. Wondering if this could be the problem as it seems more complex than most.

Thanks again.

I think the attached file is not the problem. I can insert it into an fresh assembly within less than 2 seconds.

The last file is very small and should load fast. I am wondering (being not sure), whether your problems could be caused by all the different TechDraw pages within your files. Perhaps you can make a test with some copies of your parts, where you have deactivated or removed the TechDraw pages.

Since i had problems (increased file opening times) in past with files including TechDraw pages, i only use TD today to generate views for later processing them in an external 2D program. After that i delete the TD pages. But since this time, there has been a lot of time invested by several people to improve TD. So i am really not sure, whether this topic still applies or not.
