Well, you are exactly right. I deleted the Tech Draw files and saved the file as a revision. Opened it up and it loaded in a few seconds. Maybe I can update the tech draw? Is there an alternative to this?

Many thanks,

Again

.
TechDraw pages have a property named "Keep Updated". For a test, you can set this to value "false". AFAIK this prevents recalculation. Perhaps your files will open faster.

You should update your whole FreeCAD. Your build 22665 is much behind of FC0.19.1, which has build 24276

Not in FreeCAD. As i told before. You can create views via TechDraw and export TD-pages to DXF files, which can be processed by some other 2D programs, e.g. LibreCAD. I am using QCad (Proffesional), which is a cheap commercial product.

P.S.
If you want to stay with TechDraw, there is another possibility.

1) Make a separate file of each part which shall contain the drawings.
2) Use the new Part::Link to link the geometry from which you want to have the drawing into the new file(s)
3) Do your usual TechDraw work in the separate files.

So the bloating things of TechDraw are moved to separate files and they do not cause problems for assembling the original ones.

Thanks again.
I think I am going to give Libre a try. It seems very time consuming to go through all the gymnastics of creating extra files and pages in order to use Tech Draw.

The fact is you were very helpful and I can now create assemblies much faster.
