[Solved] Updating a part

Post by byakk0 »

I have a assembly project that is made of smaller projects (The assembly project file is made up entirely of merged projects).
When I make a change to one of the parts in its own file, the related component in the assembly file does not change automatically.
Is there a way to force the assembly file to update with the changes made in the other file? I'd rather not delete the smaller project and remerge every time I make a change.

Thanks

Danke Shön,
Aber mein Desutsch ist nicht so güt.
I don't understand the last bit of the video, and I don't understand the German(?) menus

I wasn't aware of the assembly workbench. (assembly3 in .19 I'm using). I'm playing with that now, following the documentation, but I still don't see how to modify a file and have the part in assembly WB update.

Thanks.

So is there a way to update a part used in one file as a sub-assembly when the main file is altered?
Deleting and remerging is a pain.

Which assembly program are you using? A2plus, assm3 or assm4.

Short answer to the question, Assembly3.

Long answer...
Initially I wasn't using an assembly WB. I was just making a seperate project and merging the desired components I had drawn as other projects. It jsut so happened I was calling my merged file an assembly. It was't until after asking this question did I discover there is an assembly WB, which I'm using now. But my initial question still relates both methods... I'll check out Thomas's second reply to my question and see if that works.
