preparing an external surface or outer shell

Post by Roland »

Hi Assemblers,

I prepared a complicated chemical reactor in A2+, with lots of internal stuff which should remain non-disclosed. However, I want to share the external surface (the outer shell) with an electrical engineer for him to be able to design electrical wiring, and with an architect to fit the reactor into a further extended system (plant design). When I share the outer shell, I do not want to share the internal invisible matter.
  • Is there a way to prepare an outer surface?
It seems to me that there is a difficulty in that inside FreeCAD the various assembled parts do not precisely touch nor overlap so that what is defined as to be the outer surface is not defined in a an easy straightforward mathematical manner. One would need to define it with a specified tolerance.

Do you have suggestions?
