solved - "measure preselected geometry" and pie menu in Link branch

Post by bambuko »

It has started with -alex- posting:
https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 34#p565670

now I am trying to M,P shortcut (and find it's equivalent without using shortcuts?)
Is there any guide how to use it? please

Having played with M,P shortcut I can see it, in all it's usefulness.
Here I have selected a circle on the screen and all the info (including radius)

now... please, pretty please - how do I use it without shortcuts
don't seem to be able to get rid of it having switched it on...
and everything I pick on the screen comes up with this info - I only want it when I want it, not all the time?

later edit:
managed to restore things to "normal" by doing tools > edit parameters > import previous configuration

Yes, I got it now (BTW hitting Escape stops measurement being displayed):

...Plus I am having another problem with on screen menus (they are not working very well

I have tried the same in another installation of the same version of FreeCAD and it looks as follows (i.e. normal and usable):
What is the difference between the two?

The answer is simple (and I solved it myself  )
for some reason (don't ask me how or why) pie menu Radius was set to something silly
It can be changed in preferences (below changed to 200) and here is the result:

So one half of the mystery solved :ugeek:

So now back, to my original question - how do I toggle on/off the display of "preselected geometry measurement"???
It would appear that right clicking pie menu gives an option of disabling "either preselect geometry info" and/or "measure (pre)selected geometry.
This stops displaying either (which is what I wanted to be able to do - so result :P )

Next time you use M,P shortcut you get an option of re-instating the pie menu:

So I guess... this one is solved as well? :?:
but I am not totally convinced about this one?
if only because selecting any of the options in pie menu is not making any difference?
One final question remaining:
what other default shortcuts are "hiding" in realthunder's Link branch FreeCAD?? ;)

To disable the measurement mode, just M,P again then clic on measure blue icon, it's a flip flop button ;)

BTW I can not access FC ATM, so I can't tell you more that M,P shortcut as an access to measure mode.
BTW I see on your picture you have enabled the "geometry info" button, but enable only "measure" button is enough though.
Hi Alex, eventually found the answer myself ;)
You can carry on keyboard bashing to your heart's content
but for us "mouse lovers/icon clickers" this is how you do it:
