NormandC wrote: Mon Mar 05, 2018 4:33 am This has me puzzled: the second largest community of FreeCAD users after English-speaking ones are German. There is a very active German forum. How come the German translations on the wiki are nearly totally absent? I would also expect the Spanish translation to be active; not so. French and Italian, in comparison to these other languages, don't have as many speakers. It looks like if there is not at least one single very dedicated contributor, nothing gets done.
I cannot speak for other members, but I am rather interested in completing the english part of the wiki or do some minor programming. I am used to english programs and I find it often cumbersome to use translations. If I'm not with my Image at it, I won't do a good job anyway.

P.S. Sorry for the size of the heart, it is a reused image to save some bandwidth. I would have liked to scale it down, but that doesn't seem to work on this forum.

I might take some of that up, when we have the english wiki done. I recently signed up for editing and have done my first Screenshot addition in the sandbox for Shapebinder .
I must make lots of documentation in German anyway for my evening job as a public high school teacher ( including Freecad Courses )

That's good to hear. In my last post I mixed two things. What I in fact don't need at all is a translation of the program, while I see that the translation of the documentation is necessary.

Thanks for taking care of those images Harry, I appreciate it.

I made minor edits, and placed them between ending and starting translate tags so they won't appear in the translation UI.

BTW, for the PartDesign ShapeBinder image, would you be able to replace the jpg with a png? I've found that the jpeg format is not really suited to screenshots, such images can be very blurry. Thanks.

The Sandbox page is not translatable and I want to keep it that way. Any translation of it will be lost when we move its content to the PartDesign Workbench page.

So, the translation must be done AFTER the sandbox is done in english ... ?
I keep my snippets in my german course docs anyway..

A sandbox page is a temporary page, not meant to be permanent.

The plan has always been to move Sandbox:PartDesign_Workbench's content to PartDesign Workbench. Then we mark it for translation.

I've been procrastinating for the reasons I already mentioned twice if not more here.

So I took the bull by its horns and finally made the migration.

PartDesign Workbench now reflects v0.17.

@renatorivo I hope you won't hate me. I decided to start over with translation units (I added them manually!), so the page needs to be translated again from scratch. I also chose to create translation units for each separate header, paragraph, and list item. This means there are more than 100 translation units. I thought that once the page is translated, it would make translations more manageable: more units, but each rather short. We'll see with time if it's more of a hassle... :?

@HarryGeier you can now start translating in German! ;)
