SheetMetal Workbench page (former Sandbox:SheetMetal page)

Post by NormandC »

Hey guys,

renatorivo's work on a wiki page for the SheetMetal workbench had been languishing in a Sandbox for quite some time, so I moved it to SheetMetal Workbench and made some changes to it.

Not sure if I should have named this page SheetMetal Workbench? renamed it that way to comply with existing naming.

Also, I created a new "Addons" Category. easyw-fc created a page for his new Defeaturing Workbench, and we might get more pages of workbench addons in the wiki, so I figured a dedicated category to sort them would be useful.

Hey, I thought of you when I made an example file for the SheetMetal Workbench wiki page.

Do you recognize it? :D

Image

(For others who might not understand the reference: it is based on an image which used to be on the Part Workbench page for years, but it didn't represent the true capabilities of the Part wb so I reverted it to the older version earlier this year)

Let's continue here a discussion over the French translation of the SheetMetal page:

and marked it for translation. It is ready for you.
Job done
But 3 remarks
-I wanted to download a version for my V0.18 just andrenrenner, I do not know what this dung, unfold does not work
so I returned to that of V0.16, but in V0.18
-I did not translate "miterangle" I do not know what it is (cause above)
-corrects in the original the angle of folding, we can go to 180 ° and unfold
Salut
I know what it is, but I'm not sure what the correct French translation should be.

This comes from miter joint: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miter_joint

I think "miter" is "coupe à onglet".

Found this
S: (n) miter joint, mitre joint, miter, mitre (joint that forms a corner; usually both sides are bevelled at a 45-degree angle to form a 90-degree corner)
http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=miter

In Italian this is translated "Angolo mitrato" or "Angolo di mitra" . Used rarely

I will translate it by "coupe d'onglet", an expression that is also used in carpentry, for the assembly of 2 pieces of wood following 1 cut following the biscector
my remark also related to the fact that I did not check this function, because when I loaded a version that seemed adapted to V0.18 it did not work
where I can found it
If we wanted to go to the end, we would have to show how to go from unfolding to a usable flank in CNC cutting, where the fold lines must be removed so that the machine does not transform these lines into cut lines.

Hi,
I think it should be
https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/SheetMetal_Workbench
instead of
https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/SheetMetal

Other External WBs are named like that in this FC Wiki page... (which is in the TODO part)
https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/External_workbenches
the page is linked by this
https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Workbenches
and the pseudo code is:
[[SheetMetal Workbench|SheetMetal]]

It depends on manufacturer... I noticed that in commercial sw they use to give separately:
1) the unfold external outline
2) the fold lines
3) the holes/internal cuts

@shaise, do you think could be achieved the ability to split the sketch in 3 sub-sketches?
Thx
