It is not yet quite correct: You cannot start with more than one feature selected, and selecting more than one is a mess:
To add another feature you have to
- click the "Add feature" button in the transform tool
- switch to the tree view
- make the feature you want to add visible. Note: this will hide the previously visible feature
- Click on anything in 3D view.
Thanks for adding it; with all the splitting hassle I forgot to ask if you would do it.
You dropped the easy way for starting such feature, it was present in your post above:
- "Select a feature in the tree and initiate the MultiTransform tool"
or
